It gets its Military name as the compass rose also has the 0 - 64 Mil scale (one yard at 1,000 yards) and the glass bezel which is two distinct lines at a 45 degree angle. There is a lensatic sight, folding the sight down mechanically locks the compass bearing. The side of the compass has a button for locking the needle to hold a reading.
